Luck

We always hear people saying, this person is very lucky or on the contrary, this person is the unluckiest person in the world. But does luck really exist? In my opinion, I strongly believe that you have people that are born lucky, but not for the reason you may guess. Some people are lucky, because they met situations in their life that helped them building a strong personality. And, you have others, that were supposed to be lucky (because of their money, education…), but they are not because they have parents that are used to do everything for them. Those persons for me are really unlucky.

I also believe that everybody in this world was lucky even for only one time in his life. It is real that not everybody wins while gambling, but each person can, at least one in her/his life, catch the train on time, give the correct answer even though he doesn’t know anything about the subject…. So luck is something that exists, but it doesn’t stay for life.

I went to Venice with my husband to spend a weed- end there. And I was really impressed by this beautiful city. The architecture is splendid, and each building is different from the others. The city is also very romantic, and what makes it very special is that it is located over the sea. There is no car, no bicycle in Venice, people walk, and you can clearly hear the sound of your own shoes. But all this has a price: Venice is a very expensive city and you need a very large amount of money to stay there.

Dear Mr. Branson,

I know that you are very interested in all what concerns transportation. In fact, you are the owner of an aircraft company, and I knew that you were also interested railway company. But what is tricking me is that you never taught of being the owner of water transportation company. My project is to build a new and audacious company that will run submarines. These submarines will link England to the rest of the world. People while traveling for tourism will surely think of this new means of transportation. It will offer them new sensations and people will never forget this experience.

At the beginning, we could start by focusing on two destinations: England- Assilah, and England- Japan. The cost of this project will be of 20 millions dollars, but thank to my studies, I can confirm that our company will start to be profitable 6 months after launching it. We will also need a qualified team composed of six persons to drive the submarines, and 20 persons to run the business and the administrative side. For the submarines, I’ve met a Russian businessman, and he offers me the best price in the market.

If you give me your agreement, I will start hiring the staff and buying the submarines and our business will start three months after.

I am an active member of the Honors Association, and I went with some colleagues to Ouazzane to help an association. It was the first time I went there. The city is very nice, with plenty of trees: the view is wonderful. Its main resource is the olive oil, that is one of the best we have in Morocco. But I realized, while discussing with people from there, that people were very poor. The average salary of a secretary is 400dhs a month. This is too low, that is why all young people are escaping from it.

THE BLANKET

The short story The Blanket is an original mix between reality and fiction. In fact, it deals with a very dangerous and harmful phenomenon which is spousal abuse. It depicts, by giving many details, how a man can terrify his wife by beating her, and by making her a kind of slave. He has all the power on her, and she is really suffering from his moral and physical threats. As far as I’m concerned I think that it is very genius to give a “happy” fictional end to this taboo subject. That shows that even if you are suffering from a real problem in your life, there is always a place for dreams. But on the other side, how if these wolves were only imagined by Mari Jo? Maybe her sufferance reaches the top and she starts leaving in a fictional world. It is up to everybody to interpret the end of the story the way he wants…

Our school offers us a diversity of extra- curricular activities. In fact, many associations with very interesting activities are present within our school. They have a lot of ambitious projects and they do their best to realize them. Moreover, the association members constitute a very strong and united team and to keep their unity they often travel together. I think that each member of our school should be aware of their presence and of their activities. Furthermore when belonging to an association, students will certainly have a bonus in their résumé when asking for a job.

As an active woman, I try to have many activities. In fact, I try to plan carrefully each day of my life to make it full and to don't have the time to feel bored. And the activity that brings me a lot of joy and good energy is sport. I was asking people around me if they were practicing on a regular basis any sport, and 99% of them answered NO. I was kind of surprised, and I started asking them for the reasons. The answer were for the majority of them: We don't have time!! How can't we have time for our body to express itself, and for our mind to escape from everyday life? As a sport addict, I can not see my life without it, and I personally think that it helps me a lot in my life: it helps me to concentrate, to push my limits and to be far from everyday problems one hour a day. Furthermore, as young and aware persons, we need to have many outdoors activities instead of staying home watching TV or sleep, everybody should find an interesting physical activitie and start practicing it... We are young, so let us profit from our youth...

Topic: Think back to your childhood and try to remember your experience with the act of reading. In a 150 to 200 word essay, write about that experience.

At the age of ten years old my mother starts to think that it was high time for me to start reading. As all the children I think that reading was a boring exercise. One day, she told me that I was going to accompany her to buy some books. Once in the bookstore she invited me to choose the books I wanted to read. I started looking at the shelves, and I decided to choose the thinnest one Les petites filles modèles by La Comtesse de Ségure. Once at home, I started reading the book and from this moment until now I cannot stop reading. I am found of it. I have read all kinds of books: from romance to economics, philosophic books, biographies… Reading helped me a lot in writing. Furthermore, I can easily and quickly understand, by reading once, any text; this help me a lot in my studies because instead of reading many times a document I have just to read it once to understand.

I went to school very early in the morning because I had to buy some books I need this semester. But once I got there, I realized that the bookstore opens only at 10 a.m., so I got a little bit upset because I had to wait in the cold weather till the responsible for the bookstore decides to finish her breakfast and talk with students, which was half an hour after the normal open hours. This made me even more upset but I had no other choices. Once I got the chance to talk to her, she started yelling at me like if I had done something wrong. Students around me told me that it was normal and that they were used to her very strange way of talking. I strongly believe that this was not a professional manner to deal with clients, and that being impolite is not the kind of education we are seeking for in this school. I would spend the whole night if I keep talking about this person if I was willing to comment on people who are not willing to change but who can be very harmful for the reputation of our school.

I am just discovering what blogs are and I don't feel confortable using it. I think that the problem is that I will write things that are going to be shared and known by a huge number of persons. I am a little bit sceptic and I didn't really catch the usefulness of this practice but I hope that the experience is going to be interesting after all. I think that we are a good creative class, and I hope that this blog will help everybody to share interesting facts and opinions, however it is also a good means to be funny by publishing jokes and anything that could bring joy to each one of us.
